Our Story

We started Gumshoe because we believed marketers deserved to see what was happening inside that black box. Not through scraping or guesswork, but by actually simulating how real buyers talk to AI. Different customers ask the same question in different ways, so we built a system that creates representative buyer personas and runs thousands of structured conversations across every major AI model through direct API connections. The result is a clear, honest picture of how AI perceives your brand compared to your competitors.

Todd Sawicki and Patrick O'Donnell founded Gumshoe in 2025 at Pioneer Square Labs in Seattle. Todd spent his career scaling marketing technology companies, including as CEO of Zemanta. Patrick has been building products that connect people to information since co-founding Urbanspoon. They brought together a team obsessed with transparency, data minimalism, and giving marketers real leverage in a channel that was previously invisible.

Today, over 7,500 brands and agencies use Gumshoe to understand what AI says about them and turn those insights into action. We track visibility across every major AI model, audit pages for AI-readiness, and generate content designed to close the gaps our reports uncover. We're building the operating system for AI visibility, and we're just getting started.
